I picked the part at the end where it says,"Jorgson hopes their climb helps other people follow their dreams ,too." it helps me understand that both of the climbers tries to influence people to try and follow their dreams.

I agree with you, Julian. It does seem that the climbers are influencing people to follow their dreams. It is amazing how they climbed 3,000 feet straight up. I would feel really great if that was me. Just imagine: The cheering crowds, accomplishing your dream that you've had basically your whole entire life. So, back to the point, I agree with you.

I picked the part in the article (near the end) that says,"Jorgson hopes their climb helps others follow their dreams, too." This says that both people are attempting to influence others to follow their own paths, and pursue their dreams. These two climbers are definitely very good people. (And rock climbing is dangerous kids! Don't try it without experience!)

I agree with you when you say,"This says that both people are attempting to influence others to follow their own paths..." I think that this is true because they were saying how they felt good about pursuing their dreams and how they wanted everyone to feel like that.

The detail that I picked was " Grant looked up at El Capitan just before his uncle reached the top. ' I'll try that,' he said." This helps me understand that Jorgenson and Caldwell climbed the rock, as many young kids watched. They made kids feel as if they could reach their dream someday, even if it seemed impossible. I mean, who would think that a rock that goes 3,000 feet up would be possible to climb? It says in the text " Caldwell has been climbing these rocks much of his life. His father took up one of El Capitan's 100 routes as a kid. His father called Wednesday's feet ' The next level in a video game.'' This shows that Caldwell's parents are proud of him because he achieved his dream. Remember: Anything is possible.

The detail that I picked was The White House even tweeted a picture of President Barack Obama in front of a painting of Yosemite. In the tweet, Obama said, “You remind us that anything is possible.” And anything can be possible when you believe in yourself. That remind me of a judo competition it was the first time I was doing a competition and i believe in my self why is because my teacher said he would tell him his password to his phone so I believe in my self and got 1st place. And I am very proud that they climb the El Capitan because they were very brave and confidence.

The detail I picked from the article is, "Caldwell's love of climbing is inspiring other younger climbers." The reason I chose that detail is that it supports a very crucial point to follow your dreams. That could teach many young kids. If you try your best, you may achieve your dreams. Sometimes, inspiring other people is good thing to do. In the passage, it was written, "They had failed in 2010 because of bad weather. They had failed again in 2011 when Jorgeson broke his ankle." Even though, they had failed a few times, they kept on trying and that's what matters. Trying your best. The two climbers deserved to climb to the top of the dawn face. After all, when they were young they practiced so much and they worked very hard. They also didn't give up. I'm glad that those two climbers achieved their goal.

"I think everyone has their own secret Dawn Wall to complete one day," I chose this detail from the article because it shows that they aren't specifically talking about them climbing the mountain, but them being able to do what they have always wanted to do. This quote is saying that everyone has their own goal that they want to someday achieve. I think that this story is very inspiring and it makes me want to challenge myself and do something exciting.

A detail from the article is when the article is about to end. I think the last part of the article actually touched my heart and like made me feel that I was trying to accomplish my own dream. I was really amazed when Jorgeson actually wanted to accomplish their own goals. I guess he's still supporting us live our own lives and accomplish dreams and goals you want to accomplish in your lives. The detail that I chose from the story was ''Their families have watched them study, plan and train for years.'' I think this is important because if you put hard work and effort you can accomplish anything you want to! Like this show I watch A LOT of people put hard work and effort into completing all of the obstacles and moving on to the next round. When you put hard work and effort you can do anything!!!!!

I will pick the part where President Obama said''You remind us that anything is possible''. I chose this detail because if one day someone wants to do something that is very challenging they know that somebody has done that so you know it is possible.Like if someone wants to swim the ocean they know that somebody has done it and they will trust in that person because they know that he\she has made it possible to swim the ocean!

I think that the detail "They had failed in 2010 because of bad weather. They failed again in 2011 when Jorgeson broke his ankle. On Wednesday, Jorgeson fell on the first section of the day's climb, slowing down the team," helps explain the big idea that this was very difficult for them and that this may be the world’s most difficult free climb. Another detail that helps tell the reader that this climb was difficult was the paragraph called "On The Rock Face." It explains that they have slept in tents attached to the rock face, 1,200 or so feet above the valley floor. They climbed with scraped and damaged fingers, after falling, and it generally explains the big idea that this was very difficult for Caldwell and Jorgeson.

I agree that all of the evidence that you got from the article explains how it was difficult for the two climbers to get to the top, but I don't agree that that is "the" Big Idea, because the author didn't write this article to tell everyone that it was difficult to achieve that goal in my opinion. I think that the author wanted to tell the reader that they had climbed the wall in general.

One small part of the article was that Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson were once young climbers. Tommy started w/ his dad at 3 years of age. Then when 17 won a climbing contest at 17. Kevin started at the climbing gym. He is known as one of the worlds best boulder climbers. That idea of training at a little age can then lead to success in bigger things like climbing the climbing the El Capitan bare handed.

I think the bigger idea is that they climbed a 3,000 feet rock formation using what is called a free climb which means only with their hands and feet, no rope besides the safety ropes just in case they fall. A detail from this article that I picked is," The men kept climbing even after falls, little sleep and bloody fingers." This helps me understand the bigger idea because it is telling me that they have bloody fingers from using their bare hands, which is part of the big idea.

"The White House even tweeted a picture of President Barack Obama posing for a picture in front of a painting of Yosemite. In the tweet, he said, “You remind us that anything is possible." I think that this is the main idea of the article because "Anything Is Possible" is the title of the part of the article were I found that quote. Also, the people in the article are doing something that is really difficult so it would make sense if one of the themes of the article is "anything is possible".

A small detail of the article is,"I'll do that someday." said grant van. This small detail touches us. His Uncle inspired his nephew and he said that he would do that someday. That even inspires us to follow our dreams and think of what we can become! This small detail connects to the main idea:"on Wednesday two climber made history! They climed the tallest rock in the world,in Yosemite!" this article had many quotes that I was interested such as the Barack Obama posing with a picture of Yosemite. However this one touched our lives and inspired us to follow one big dream so we could accomplish!

One of the details that I thought brought out a bigger idea was, "Jorgeson hopes their climb inspires other people to follow their dreams too.'I think everyone has their own secret Dawn Wall to complete one day..''' I think that this detail explains the lesson in this article which is to follow your passion, and pass your goals. Jorgeson and Cadwell both achieved their dreams by climbing the El Captain. Another detail from the article that I think explains a big idea from the article is, "Two rock climbers just made history Wednesday. They used just their hands and feet to reach the top of El Captain." This is pretty much the main idea of the article because the whole article was talking about them making history, the preparation for it and what happened after they made it to the top and down. This was what the author wanted the reader to know. I hope that people were inspired by the achievements of the two climbers, Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson.

I think that a good detail of the article is when Jorgeson hopes their climb helps other people follow their dreams, too. and " I think everyone has their own secret Dawn Wall to complete one day," he said. This detail helped me understand the article because to me the main idea is that they followed their dream and hoped to inspire people to follow theirs , and these quotes from the article say that he(Jorgeson)hopes that this is going to inspire people to follow their dreams were ever they take you , even to the dawn wall like Caldwell’s and Jorgeson's . This describes the bigger idea of the article because the article is mostly about following your dreams, and this part of the article tells you almost the same thing as what the whole article is supposed to tell you , just in a different way. Kind of like a summery . Another detail that explains the articles bigger ideas is It took the climbers seven years to achieve their dream. This explains a bigger part of the article because it doesn't happen magically it happens after a lot of practice .For it took these partners seven years to be ready to complete their dream. This is like a mini lesson. It teaches you that the more you practice the better you get.

The detail I have chose from the text was, "You remind us that anything is possible." That is basically what the article was about. If you try hard in everything you do, you will be successful. But it doesn't mean you can achieve a goal in one try. Trying hard means not giving up and thinking of other ways that might help you become successful in your goal. These two men wanted to be successful climbers, so they tried hard to accomplish their goal. As long as you want to do it. If you are forced to do it, nothing is possible. When you are forced, you have no choice. So if you don't like what you're doing, you won't care about what you're doing. So that means, you will not put and effort into your work.

"You remind us that anything is possible." I think this is the main quote because if you try hard in everything you do, you will be successful, But you will not achive your goal right away. As the 2 climbing people, Tommy Caldwell and Kevin Jorgeson did. It took them many tries. So that means that they put effort in their work! Many people look up to them to follow their own dreams now. So they remind us that anything is possible.

The detail that I chose was "Jorgson hopes their climb helps other people follow their dreams, too." It helps me understand that the climbers wanted to influence other people to achieve their dreams. They want other people to not be afraid, and, they should just try it. People usually don't try to accomplish their dreams because they don't think that they can. This article shows that you should not be afraid to follow your dreams.
