I think that Jaun gave back the gold coin because he started to be a little more mature. What I mean is that he started to become less selfish or Garrett. When he saw that Dona Josefa wanted to help the little girl, but needed to take care of her wrecked house, he stepped in and told her that he would take care of her house while she was gone. He also said to the little girl that she and her mother would need the coin more than him. I got my evidence from page 25 and 26. On page25 it says"Jaun took in the child`s frightened eyes, Dona Josefa`s sad, distressed face, and the ransacked hut." Then on page 26 it says, " Here, take this," he said, giving her the gold coin." I'm sure the newborn will need it more than I."I think that Jaun became rich with kindness in the end, because he went through so much, to just get that coin and then gave it to somebody who really needed it. The text also said that he hadn`t spoken to another human in a long, long time so he probably felt good when he got to speak to a human. I think that Jaun isn't just a theaf but deep down he has a huge hart.

I think that Juan gave back the gold coin because after all he has done going through adventures, he has found out that people turned down the gold coin and yet those people needed the gold coin more Juan. The only reason Juan wanted the gold coin was because he wanted to be wealthy.{ wealthy means rich} Also I think he gave it back because of kindness. When Juan was going to the different places to get the gold coin he met other people and he helped them do their crops and other things. Also when he went to the gold coin he noticed that this little girl and her family were gonna have a baby and he knew that they mast have needed it more than himself.

I think Juan gave back the gold coin because Dona Josefa said the gold was only for people who needed it desperately . Juan did not need at all . He just wanted it for wealth . On page 26 Juan gave the gold back to the young child.

I am in group #1. I think Juan gave the gold coin back for two reasons. 1. When Juan went and found Doña Josefa, he ask for the gold coin. Doña Josefa gives it to him, a young girl came to Doña and said," My mother is giving birth to a new born soon." The story said something like," Doña Josefa looked up at the sky. " But look at my hut, it is torn up." Then Juan offered to fix the hut and he gave the coin back. He did this because he tore up the roof to find the coin when someone else needed it more than he did. He changed then he was in the first part of the part of the story. He wasn't that selfish as he was in the first part, than the end. When Doña Josefa gave him the coin he thought the little girls mother needed it, and he tore up Doña Josefa's hut. He did not need because he tore up a hut. Reason two. I think he gave it back because he went through a big change. He helped every body who help him. He had some fun, and he smiled after a long time since he had last smiled. He felt better and when a girl showed him the bunny rabbits. That is why I thought Juan gave the coin back.

I think that Dona Josepha gives Juan the gold coin because on page 25 it says that Dona Josepha wants to give the gold coin to someone who really needs it. This is out of topic but I think that Dona Josepha says that she must be the richest person in the world because she helps people. She thinks that the people that she treated will need the gold coin more than she does.

I think that there could be multiple reasons that Juan gave away the gold coin, but I think that it was because of the changes he made on the journey to get the gold coin. One change is when a little girl shows thin a family of rabbits under a tree, Juan smiles the text says that it had been a long time since Juan had smiled. I think that This has an effect on the choice Juan made to give back the gold coin at the end of the passage

I think Juan gave back the coin to be more nice cause when he was helping the people his heart opened up the good side and maybe he gave it back cause he was already rich with kindness and happiness. Also relating yesterday to what Leilah said back on the carpet yesterday maybe he was starting to be able to listen more because as Doña Josepha said "I should give this coin to the person who needs it most."and Juan said "I'm sure this baby needs it more than me."That is very true because Juan was a stealer and when baby's are born it cost a lot of money to get surgery and raise the baby. Also in the photo it showed Juan hiding in the bushes and Doña Josepha walking with the gold coin.I could see that in the photo that Juan looked like a teenager and maybe he had a family and he ran away or got lost somewhere. Also I think Juan didn't want to award himself with the gold coin because it was near nightfall and there was a women who was pregnant and Doña Josepha had a scratch in her roof and there was a leek that Juan caused when he was searching the house for the gold coin.Over all Juan became a good kid.

The reason why Dona Josefa gave Juan the gold coin is because in the story,Dona Josefa said "I've been looking for someone who needed the coin the most."And When Juan rushed into the hut he said "Where's the gold?"and it sounds like he saying he needs the gold coin. That is why I think Dona Josefa gave Juan the gold coin.

I think Juan gave back the coin because in his heart he thinks that Doña Josefa deserves the coin as much as he did. He thinks that Doña Josefa deserves it more than him because she helps people when they get hurt, then with her special tea to lessen the pain. I think Juan made a good choice because instead of just keeping the gold coin to be rich he gave it back to Doña Josefa after doing all the hard work to get the gold coin. When he wanted to cross the lake he helped hoed the potatoes, then he helped pick ears of corn when he wanted to use the horse to cross the mountain, those are some of the examples of what he had helped to get the gold coin.

i think juan gave back the gold coin because he changed on the way by remembering all the things hadn't done when he was younger and when juan finally got to Doña Joséfa's hut, he retrieved the gold coin, but when he heard about the newborn, he gave the little girl the gold coin, he said, "here, have this. I'm sure the newborn will need it more than i."

I think that Juan gave back the gold coin because he figured that he did not need to really help his life. He just wanted it to be rich! I also think that he gave back the gold coin because he changed. Even though how much work he had to do just too get that gold coin. He probably was thinking that he does not earn the coin! Juan is the one who broke Dona Josefa's house in the beginning of the story so he is the one who has to fix it and he did!

I think Dona Josepha gave Juan the gold coin because she said I have been looking for someone that needs it. Since everyone said that she could keep it she did not give it away. Later she said you must be the one that needs it so she thought that Juan was the person that needed it even though he wanted to steel it from her since he was a thief and he really did not need the gold coin. He was not hurt but she still thought he needed it. But before that he also said where is the gold then Dona Josepha said the gold coin since Juan wanted the gold coin. That is more proof that Dona Josepha gave the gold coin to Jaun

I think that Jaun gave back the coin because over the time he spent with people a kindness started to bloom in his heart. The evidence from the text I have is that when the little girl showed him the bunnies or whatever she showed him Jauns face broke into a smile. Also Jaun found it hard to goodbye to one of the people he encountered on his jorney. Also he really enjoyed havig a home cooked meal with the first person he encountered on his journey. What I am trying to say is that Jaun enjoyend having people around him. Also Jaun realized while he was helping people he that he could live a better and happier life if he stoped being a thief.

I think that Dona Josefa gave Juan the Gold Coin because she thought that Juan was the one who needed it, but he declined because maybe he felt rich in friendship because he helped the farmers pick their crops and prepare supper. In the text a passage read " The newborn will need it more than I," said Juan. This concludes that Juan is kind internally and greedy externally.

I think that Dona Josefa gave Juan the gold coin because she thought that he would need it. Juan needed the coin in his opinion, but I think that when Dona Josefa said that Juan must be the one who needs the gold coin and the little girl came and said that her mom was giving birth to the baby any minute, Juan realized that there are some people less fortunate than him, and that he really didn't need the coin.

I think that Dona Josefa gave the gold coin to Juan because she thought that Juan needed it the most. When Dona Josefa went out healing people, she oferred them the gold coin but they all said, "Keep it." When Juan asked for the gold coin, Dona Josefa came him it because she thought he needed it the most. The evidence is on page 25. It says that she wants to give the gold coin to the person who really needs it. Also, just to say, I think Juan gave the coin back because he realized that kindness and friendship is more valuble than a gold coin. He noticed that when he was helping the people hoe potatoes and pick crops. He got to do stuff he hasn't done for a long time like eat dinner with people together.

I think Dona Josefa gave the gold coin to Juan, because she thought that Juan might need the gold coin more than she needs it. In the passage, it was written on page 25, "Have you come for the gold coin? I've been trying hard to give it to someone that might need it, said Dona Josefa." On her journey over the countryside, she tried to give the gold coin to an old man, young woman, man with a broken leg and finally Don Teodosio's wife. Though they all said,"Keep it." Dona Josefa might have offered giving the gold coin to someone else. Maybe, she thinks someone else who is injured might need it more. After all she is pretty healthy and a great healer herself. And by the way, she is traveling over the countryside.

I think Dona Josefa gave Juan the gold coin because I saw on page 25 that Dona Josefa wanted to find and help someone who needed the coin and people were saying that Dona Josefa already gave the coin to a sick person but she didn't,the people said''I don't need it,there must be someone else in the world who needs it.''Juan found Dona Josefa with the coin and really wanted it and Dona Josefa said''you must be the person who really needed the coin,I tried giving it to everyone but they didn't budge to take it.''After she said that,Juan didn't say a word.A girl came running at Dona Josefa and she asked for help for her mom,Juan quickly gave the gold coin back before they could go anywhere.he said that there should be somebody else that needs it like everyone else said.In conclusion I think Dona Josefa gave the coin up is because maybe she thought richness wouldn't get her anywhere

I think that Juan gave the gold coin back because he saw that other people had the opportunity to take it, but they all told Dona Josefa that there are other people that need it more than them. I think he was realizing that he was being selfish. In the beginning of the story, he had no friends or family, and he was always hiding and never went out in the sun. Because of that, he was mean and pale and he had really bad skin. Later in the story, when he was helping people with their work, even though it was only to get to Dona Josefa faster, he started to make friends and his skin started to look better. It made him happier and nicer. I think that affected his decision on giving back the gold coin.

I think Juan gave back the gold coin because he saw that someone needed it more than him. I think he realizied that he was being selfish. He changed to give the coin away by relizing what being happy and nice and a family to each other. When he was looking for a ride to Dona Josefa he found hapiness and sharing . Then at the end he found that he did not deserve the gold coin, he found he was the one that ruined Dona Josefa's house he was a stealer, a former one. But one question , WHAT WOULD A BABY DO WITH A GOLD COIN, it would just be used for the mom.

I think Doña Josefa gave Juan the gold coin because she thought Juan needed it. That is a surface response. Now we get deeper: Why did she think he needed it? I have two answers: 1) I think that Doña Josefa may have seen Juan at the window in her hut and known he was a thief or just known he was a thief. So she thought that if Juan could get a present ( like a gold coin) he would become happier and stop robbing. My evidence is that when Juan thinks, How could she go around giving out gold coins, MY gold coins. This concludes that Josefa is a generous person, for she goes around OFFERING presents to everyone. By OFFERING i mean i don't think she actually GAVE the gold coin to any of the sick people, she just OFFERED it and they refused, but she told the relatives of the sick people that she had offered them a gold coin and the relatives thought that meant the ill person had accepted it. So i think Josefa had the gold coin and wanted to drive Juan away from the idea of being a thief so she gave him a present to make him happy. 2) Maybe Doña Josefa thought she shouldn't have the coin because she wasn't ill or pale or bent like Juan or the ill people so she offered it to people who were in pain or sick or pale or bent.

Dona Josefa gave Juan the gold coin because she thought he needed it the most. Also, whoever dona cured didn't except then gold coin. Juan was so eager to get the gold coin thats why he wanted to go travel with all the people she cured one after another, and each one told and guided Juan ,to where she is until they came to where they Started. However, when dona had seen the mess Juan made looking for the gold coin a girl had Came to her house. her mother was about to have a baby so she needed help. but before dona left, Juan gave the coin to the little girl. _sha-sha

Juan gave back the gold coin because while he was helping the people, he was changing and changing until he finally changed, So when the little girl comes and when she said that her mother was delivering a baby, Juan was thinking about the baby and that the mother would need it more than him. So he gave the gold coin to the little girl but he also helped Dona Josefa with her roof.
