I think that it was wise of Kuo Ming to build the shrine because he was helping white wave.Since he helped White Wave,White wave helped the the farmer so when he called through the shell White White wWave gave him enough rice to last him till the next harvest. So he was able to survive with a family but always remember White Wave.

My response is yes and no. No, because then Kuo Ming starved since the text says "When harvest came, it was very small." Since the harvest was very small, Kuo Ming had to live on berries and wild grass, while using a lot of energy and effort building the shrine with pink, gray, and white stones for the goddess who made his heart full- White Wave. When the shrine was complete, Kuo Ming was weak. He made a good decision- to call for White Wave. Yes, because by building the shrine with pink, gray, and white stones, he was showing respect and love for the moon goddess, White Wave. Even though Kuo Ming was starving, he put white Wave before himself. I think that Kuo Ming has a kind heart, but he should've taken care of himself while building the beautiful shrine for White Wave. He also should've worked in the fields while building the shrine.

Its both a bad choice and a good choice. It was bad beacause it said,"At last the shrine was complete. but that evening he was so weak with hunger he could bearly walk. It was a good choice because he was giving back a favor for white wave. She cared for him . He cares for her.It shows by this sentence,"At that moment he decided to build a shrine for white wave- a beutiful stone house where she migt live peasfully. He built the shrine for himself to remember her and for her to come back........

I think that Kuo Ming was wise to build the shrine because when he was finished White Wave might live there peacefully. It was also unwise of Kuo Ming to build the shrine for White Wave because all he's been eating is left over supplies, wild grass, and wild berries.Kuo Ming could have starved to death but when he finished the shrine he called White Wave and rice came pouring out of White Wave's shell.

I think Kuo Ming made a bad decision making a shrine for white wave. I think it was a bad decision because he was not farming for the harvest and taking to much time on his shrine for white wave. Some evidence is when the author stated, "He spent more time choosing the stones -beautiful white, pink, and gray - than working on the fields." When he worked very hard and put many hours into that shrine ,it was finnally finished . However he needed his supply to survive this tough time , but then he remembered White Wave's sayings," If you are in great need call me by my name, White Wave."he said ,"White Wave , I need your help." then a bowl of rice cascaded towards him. That was enough to last him till the next harvest . White Wave encoureged Kuo Ming to not be so shy anymore. HE always thought White Wave would come to see the shrine he had made for her, however she never she never came back . All he had left was the was her shell.

It was and it wasn't a good idea .It was a good idea because White Wave could live peacefully and it was also a nice thing to do because he spent more time picking rocks than working on his farm.It wasn't a good idea because he would have starved to death. He was really hungry and so weak that he could barely walk.He already ate all the supplies he stored and chewing on grass and wild berries wasn't enough.White Wave didn't even go in the shrine and the shrine disappeared when Kuo Ming died. The story was the only thing left.I feel sad for Kuo Ming because he spent a long time building the the shrine but when he died it disappearedd.

No,it was not wise of Kuo Ming to build the shrine instead of taking care of the farm because all of the food he ate was from the farm and now it wasn't growing because he spent more time building the shrine than growing food on the farm. It also states that "Kuo Ming spent more time building the shrine instead of growing his food. Also,it says that after Kuo Ming was finished with the shrine he had no food. He had to eat all of his supplies he had stored, and after that he had to live on berries and wild grass. Then he remembered what white wave had told him "If you are ever in great need call me by my name White Wave." After that, one evening he was very week of hunger. He stumbled off his horse and into the house,he picked up the colored shell, held it high and with his last breath he yelled "White Wave I need you! A wave of gleaming white rice cascaded out of the shell and on to the floor. The rice was solid and firm,it was enough to last him until next harvest. After that he had a wife and children. He told his wife about White Wave and when his kids were old enough he told them, and every morning the children would walk up the hill and look at the shrine.

No,because he should pay attention to his work for a better life . If he thinks about someone else, the farmer couldn't help or feed himself. If Kuo Ming keeps thinking of White Wave forever, he will never finish or complete his main job. In the text, it said, "When the old man died, the shell was lost, in time the shrine disappeared, too." Kuo Ming worked really hard for all those demanding hours and he almost starve to death. Now, the shells of the shrine is all scattered around, in the grassy hill. Though, caring about friends is a very good reason to help people. Still, helping too much might be a problem.

I do not think it was a good idea to build a shrine for White Wave.I don't think so because when Kuo Ming discovers White Wave was cooking and making his dinner for him Kuo Ming started spying on White Wave. One day Kuo Ming had the eager to touch White Wave he couldn't handle it and ran,he opened the door the evedence in the story was ''He wanted to touch her hair. The desire burst upon him.'' He opened the door then rushed into the room! the second he got in she left him for what he has forgot . So when she left he built a shrine for White Wave.He ate all the food he stored and started eating berries and wild grass. One day he finished the shrine gathering rocks, working hard and not taking care of the farm. When Kuo Ming arrived home he was weak and also tired.Kuo Ming walked in and the glass that was holding White Wave's shell fell and with Kuo Ming last breath he called for White Wave with his last breath and then rice came flowing out of the shell.

I think Kou Ming made a wise yet bad decision. It was a wise decision because in the text it said ''Kou Ming went to the field, but he did not think of his work. He thought only of White Wave and how to bring her back.As he was wandering over the hills , his foot struck a stone. He bent over to look at it. At that moment he decided he would build a shrine for White Wave.A beautiful stone house where she might live peacefully.'' It shows that since white Wave is gone, Kou Ming is going to build a shrine to bring her back.Sometimes if you do good deeds for others than they might do something good to you back.Although it is a bad decision because in the text it says ''He spent more time picking stones then taking more care for his farm.'' Because Kou Ming hardly works in his farm he won't be able to harvest his crops. He also won't be able to get money for the things he need.

I think its not a good idea to make a good idea to make the stone house. He made it beacuse he was in a mountain then suddenly he tripped on a stone he thought it was a great idea to build a stone house for White Wave but his crops were very small when he was building it and he ate the little there was left. White wave only came out of the shell if Kuo Ming was in great need so she never went there so he wasted his time building the big stone house . In the story just about when he finished it said he was so weak with hunger he could not move . He called for White Wave and a gleaming bowl of rice came to him . Without White Wave he would of starved to death ! When he died the shell was lost but White Wave never came and when the kids went to look at the mountains she was never there. with evidence from the following passages, I think it was not wise of him because the result was living of wild berries and grass after he ate all the supplies he'd stored.Without white wave and the flowing of the rice, he would have starved to death. I also think it's a good idea, too because if he had not built the shrine, white wave would not have saved him. Here is evidence from the story. ' he ate the supplies he had stored, and after that, he lived on wild grass and berries.at last, the shrine was complete. But the farmer was so weak with hunger, he could barely walk.

He worked a lot time making the shrine not eating any food and he was starving to death. his health was more important than making a shrine. Instead he should of care for himself not white wave. He was eating his his tool and ate wild grass after he built his white wave's shrine it was not wise

No it was not wise of Kuo to build a shrine because according to the text, Kuo did not take care of his farm. He ate the food that was stocked up. Then he had to feed on berries and wild grass. This eventually extremely lowered his health rate he could of died. This was not smart of Kuo.He also had the shell to remember White Wave because in The end of the story the children like to hold the shell when Kuo told them the story.

On page 62 it states, '' He stumbled into his house and tripped over the earthenware jar. The shell fell out. Quickly, he picked it up, and as he held it, remembered the words of the goddess.'' I believe that it was not only the shell that helped him remember, but it was partly the effect of building the shrine. The shrine, as I am sure Kuo Ming knew, was his last reference, his last memory of White Wave if he ever lost the shell. And although the shrine was eventually lost in time, the stones still lived to tell the story. In conclusion, it was a pretty good choice to build the shrine even though Kuo Ming came close to getting very sick. Like it says in the story (reffering to the stones) : If you happen to find one, remember this story...

This was a bad idea because Kuo Ming's health is more important than building a shrine for a friend, but if he really waned to build the shrine , for White Wave he should have started after the harvest , because he risked his life making the shrine. Some evidence from the text says"The farmer was weak and hungry." Also another part says" He ate the supplies he strored and after he lived on berries and Wild Grass."After, he got weaker so the text says" With his last cry he called WHITE WAVE." The story also said" He never called White Wave again."

I think it was wise and was not wise. He was wise to build a shrine because he wanted White Wave to come back and he can live with no lonliness. Also he was not wise to build a shrine because he was starving after he built the shrine. I think Kuo Ming wants White Wave back so badly so his lonliness will disappear again. I also think that Kuo Ming was in love with White White because her dress was very pretty. The dress changed from silver, white,to gold. Also I think he is in love because her hair was very glittery and shiny.

I think it was wise of Kuo Ming to build the shrine instead of taking care of his farm because you can always regrow a farm but once White Wave is gone you can't get her back.White Wave had to leave because he tried to touch her. I know because it said on page 61,"He knew, though no one had told him, he must never try to touch her." And,"he wanted to touch her hair. The desire burst upon him so strongly and quickly he forgot what he knew. He opened the door and rushed into the room." I think building the shrine was an apology for trying to touch her. it was also a way to honor her. Kuo Ming grew weak and hungry but on page 62 it said that white wave told him,"If ever you are in great need call me by my name, White Wave." He still got to eat and if he hadn't built the shrine then, he wouldn't have learned his lesson and he would have called for white wave later when she was already gone. He would have died.

It was not wise of Kuo Ming to build a shrine for White Wave because his harvest will shrink and he will be hungry when he runs out of food stored for him. I know because in the story it says ""When the harvest came, it grew small. He ate the little supplies stored for him and after that he would lived on berries and wild grass. But then one evening the shrine was completed but Kuo Ming was very weak from hunger he had stumbled in his house and he tripped over the earthenware jar and out came the moon snail shell as Kuo Ming picked it up he remembered the words of the goddess If you are ever in great need call me by name White Wave...The farmer raised the moon snail shell and with his last strength he cried out White Wave I Need You! Then he turned the shell to him and a wave of gleaming rice it was enough to last until next harvest. He never called her name again, eventually Kuo Ming married and had children the shrine that Kuo Ming had built, stood on the hill above their house.

No,because he was building something instead of eating. All he was eating was what he stored then was eating on wild berries. Then finally he finished the shrine but he was starving so with his last strength he called WhiteWave. So WhiteWave gave him rice enough until the next harvest.

I think it was wise and not wise for Kuo Ming to build shrine for White Wave. I think it was wise for Kuo Ming to build the shrine because he did not forget about White Wave. He tried and tried to get White Wave back. I think it was not wise for Kuo Ming to build the shrine for White Wave because he was not thinking of his self and not eating a lot. This is bad because Kuo Ming could starve to death. But he called White Wave and got rice that will last him the next harvest.
